Mouse Trouble
The first mouse I ever bought, a Corsair Scimitar. Alright I paid for mice as part of bundles before, but this was the first time I picked out a mouse and the first mouse made me feel like ‘gamer’ was more that some aesthetic non-sense used to jack up price. This mouse is a monster, it has a dozen buttons just for your thumb. I really enjoyed using this mouse, but lately its been unpleasant.
The scroll-wheel stopped working appropriately. It would engage occasionally, but often scroll backwards before stopping. I wasn’t ready to give up on my mouse, so I got to work.
After tearing it apart I found my culprit. It appears as though cat hair wrapped its way around axle and interfered with the scroll sensor. Tearing the mouse completely in 2 I was able to remove the scroll-wheel assembly and remove the hair.
Before reassembling completely I tested the mouse so I would not have to put covers back on just to remove them again if I found I had not cleared out all foreign matter.
The mouse seemed to scroll like new, and like that the Scimitar has returned to my arsenal.
